Department of Mechanical Engineering
The inception of the Mechanical Engineering Department may be traced back to 2008 when B.Tech course in Mechanical Engineering was started in this Institute. The B.Tech Course is affiliated to the Kurukshetra University Kurukshetra is approved by AICTE; New Delhi. Established in the year 2008, the Department offers a 4-year B. Tech. and a 2-Year M.E. Post Graduate Programme in:
Mechanical Engineering [B.Tech.], with an annual intake of 60 students.
Industrial and Productuion [M.E], with an annual intake of 18 students
MESSAGE
HEAD OF DEPARTMENT
Mechanical Engineering is the discipline that applies the principles of engineering, physics, and materials science for the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems. It is the branch of engineering that involves the design, production, and operation of machinery. It is one of the oldest and broadest of the engineering disciplines.
The engineering field requires an understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science, structural analysis, and electricity. Mechanical engineers use these core principles along with tools like computer-aided design, and product lifecycle management to design and analyze manufacturing plants, industrial equipment and machinery, heating and cooling systems, transport systems, aircraft, watercraft, robotics, medical devices, weapons, and others.
There is a huge demand for skilled mechanical engineers in India and abroad. The expertise of a mechanical engineer is required in manufacturing industries like automobiles, aviation, etc. In the recent times and due to the advent in technology, the skill of a mechanical engineer is sought in fields such as nano-technology, biomedical engineering, energy conservation and more. According to reports, the growth in this industry it is said within the next few years, mechanical engineering will be the highest paid career option.
Wishing all our students brilliant and bright future
With best wishes

DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING
LABORATORIES
The Department is backed by a number of well developed laboratories as mentioned below:
These laboratories, serve the purpose of training the students in the conventional and basic course of Mechanical Engineering and these laboratories are organized to provide hands-on training to the students in the emerging field of specialization. Each theoretical course is backed by sufficient laboratory experiments. The undergraduate students of this department may well claim the honour of being trained in the most sophisticated and state-of art laboratories available at the present moment in our country.
The Department is mainly backed by the Central Workshop facilities for providing hands-on training in the conventional machining and other traditional trades like Smithy, Forging, Welding, Foundry and Pattern Making. The department also takes different theory classes and conducts laboratory experiments for other branches of engineering viz. Electrical Engineering, Electronics & communication Engineering, Architecture, and Computer Science Engineering.
Regulars Four semesters Postgraduate Courses are offered by the Department for regular students and for a few industry-sponsored candidates. There field of specialization in the Postgraduate studies is Industrial and Production Engineering. The Postgraduate students are mostly trained in the laboratories meant for emerging field of specialization. They are assigned suitable thesis work relating to industrial and academic problems relevant to the present day trends of technical education.
