About Department

Welcome to Department  of Management Studies

Department  of Management Studies has its origin in the year 2009 with Faculty of Management having department of  Management studies with 60 seats and department of Business studies with 120 seats as part of the Kurukshetra University to promote study and research in emerging areas of business education.The department of business management was pioneer in starting the super specialized programme like MBA (Finance), MBA (Marketing), MBA (International Business), MBA (Human Resource Management) and MBA (Production Management) apart from the popular MBA with dual specialization. To enable the practicing professionals in Karnal and adjoining area.   Both the departments were very active in organization of seminar, workshops, Faculty development programme for  college teachers, lecture series inviting prominent industrialists, businesses professionals and academicians. The good response shown by the corporate sector in placing the department's students added another feather to their cap.  At present the Department Of Management Studies boost of an ideal mix of senior, middle and young academicians. It is further reinforced by visiting Professors from diverse academic and professional world. Majority of the teachers are engaged in research activities and have attained enough national and international recognition through consultancy to government and corporates, publication of research papers and books, and participation in national and international seminars and conferences.

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA)

Duration – 6 Semesters

Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is a three-year fulltime course which aims towards building future professionals rather than mere degree holders. It is designed to craft graduates with well-developed business insights and critical thinking and decision-making skills. The course is designed to give students the basic understanding of the management concepts and an understanding of doing business internationally.

The structure of the program is so planned that it equips the students to imbibe holistic education and requisite skills. Throughout the coursework students get an opportunity to learn the various aspects of Business and earn the basic managerial skills and communications skills.

 In addition to academic learning, the course emphasizes the development of key real-world business attributes like global intelligence and personal effectiveness, giving students the confidence, knowledge and expertise required to function in a global setting.

 The objective of the Course is:

  1. 1. To groom the budding professionals for analyzing, evaluating and designing complex business and management solutions.
  • 2. To guide the management graduates to develop a positive attitude towards ethical and value based learning and motivate them to take up higher studies and research in the field of business management.
  • 3. To mentor the budding professionals and entrepreneurs of tomorrow with global business leadership qualities and deep economic and societal concernes.
  • 4. To prepare budding professional to make them sensitive human beings who can keep due emotions towards humanity and global diversities.
  • 5. To train responsible and ethical management professionals to be successfully employed in all industrial sectors at national and global levels.

 BBA Programme Outcomes

 Upon successful completion of the programme, the student should be able to:

  • Identify, analysis, formulate, and serve the needs of individuals and society creatively and innovatively.
  • Work effectively both on own initiatives and with others as a member of a team, group, organisation, community, and contribute to the group output in tasks growing out of the business, commerce and management fields.
  • Manage and organize his or hers activities and life responsibly and effectively, including his or hers studies within the distance context. Collect, analyse, organize and critically evaluate information, as required in the pursuit of the BBA.
  • Communicate effectively using visual, mathematical and/or language skills in the modes of oral and/or written presentation in often extensive pieces of sustained discourse.
  • Utilize science and technology effectively and critically showing responsibility towards the environment and health and well-being of others, in community, national and global contexts.
  • Anticipate and analyse trends in the business environment. Integrate theory and application from various functional areas in an interdisciplinary approach.

MBA Programme

Master of Business Administration (MBA) 

Duration: 4 Semesters

The MBA is a highly prestigious management course of modern times and prepares the participants for taking up middle and top level challenging executive assignments in private and public sectors. Accordingly, they are imparted adequate conceptual knowledge and practical training in various functional areas of management comprising Finance, Marketing, Human Resource Development, International Business and Production & Operation Management. MBA   is a two years programme divided into four semesters. The specializations are offered from 3rd semester on the basis of merit. The MBA programme involves intensive involvement of the students so as to groom them as world class executives.

MBA Full Time is a two-year course. concentrates on imparting management fundamentals like Human Resources,  Marketing Management, Financial Management, International business and Production & operation Management etc.

At the completion of the first two semesters of the first year and before the commencement of the third semester in the second year, the student undergoes summer training in renowned organizations of the country. A report based on the summer training is submitted within four weeks from the commencement of the third semester. In the second year, the students decide on their professional development plans by reflecting on their first year’s learning and summer internship experiences.

BBA Programme Objectives

The BBA is an undergraduate degree designed to provide a strong foundation in business and management principles. Its objectives typically include:

  1. Foundational Knowledge in Business: Equip students with a comprehensive understanding of core business disciplines such as accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, operations, and economics.
  2. Development of Managerial Skills: Foster skills like leadership, communication, teamwork, and critical thinking to prepare students for entry-level business roles or entrepreneurial ventures.
  3. Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Enable students to identify business problems, analyze opportunities, and apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.
  4. Preparation for Higher Studies: Provide a robust foundation for advanced studies, particularly for pursuing an MBA or other specialized master’s programs.

The BBA syllabus under NEP-2020 is structured under the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) with a focus on Major, Minor, Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC), Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC), Value-Added Courses (VAC), and Internships. The program is divided into 6–8 semesters (3–4 years). A typical structure includes:

Semester 1–2 (Foundation Courses):

  • Core (Major): Principles of Management, Financial Accounting, Business Economics, Business Mathematics, Business Communication.
  • AEC: English Communication, Environmental Studies.
  • SEC: Computer Applications, Tally, or Digital Marketing.
  • VAC: Ethics and Values, Yoga, or Indian Knowledge Systems.

About Laboratories

Management Department Laboratory

The Management Department Laboratory is a dynamic and innovative learning hub that empowers students with hands-on experience in core management disciplines. Designed to bridge the gap between theory and practice, the lab is equipped with the latest tools, software, and case-based resources to foster experiential learning across key areas such as finance, marketing, human resources, and operations. Through interactive simulations, data-driven projects, and real-world problem-solving exercises, students gain practical insights and sharpen their decision-making abilities. This state-of-the-art facility not only enhances academic instruction but also cultivates analytical thinking, creativity, and leadership—essential qualities for tomorrow’s business leaders. The lab stands as a testament to the department’s commitment to academic excellence and industry relevance.

1. Marketing Laboratory

Focuses on real-time marketing simulations, branding strategies, consumer behavior analysis, and digital marketing tools. Students learn through market surveys, advertisement design, social media analytics, and campaign planning.

2. Finance and Accounting Laboratory

Equipped with financial modeling software, stock market simulators, and accounting tools. This lab helps students understand financial statement analysis, investment decisions, budgeting, taxation, and portfolio management.

3. Human Resource Management (HRM) Laboratory

Offers exposure to HR analytics, personality assessments, recruitment simulations, and performance appraisal tools. Students engage in activities such as mock interviews, group dynamics, and organizational behavior studies.

4. Entrepreneurship and Innovation Cell

Encourages startup culture and innovative thinking. Students develop business plans, conduct feasibility studies, and participate in pitch competitions. The cell also provides mentoring and support for budding entrepreneurs.

5. Business Analytics and Research Laboratory

Focused on data analysis, statistical modeling, and research methodology. Tools like SPSS, R, Excel, and Tableau are used to carry out market research, business forecasting, and decision-making.

6. Operations and Supply Chain Management Lab

Simulates processes related to production planning, logistics, inventory management, and quality control. It uses real-world case studies and models to enhance operational efficiency skills.

7. Communication and Soft Skills Lab

Enhances presentation skills, business communication, leadership, and team collaboration. This lab includes role plays, group discussions, and audio-visual aids for professional development.

INDUSTRIAL VISITS

INDUSTRIAL VISIT OF INDIAN EXPRESS (2018)

Our students of BBA-3RD & 5TH SEM and MBA Final Year visit the printing press of Indian express on 27th OCT 2018 (47 students and 4 faculty members). In the morning we start the bus at 6:30 a.m from college campus and with discipline reached Panchkula at 10 a.m. then we gave chance to students visit Pinjor Garden and Mata Mansa Devi Mandir. Then at exact 2:00 p.m. we reached at Indian express printing press. Mr. Sourav was already there to help us. Mr. Gaurav, Printing In charge over there and took us to printing section and give detailed knowledge about the printing process, printing machines and printing management. Then we all visit editorial section and also met the Printing Plant Head. At last we took refreshment served by the Indian Express and return back to Campus at 7:45 p.m.

Industrial Visit of Yakult

Our college has organized a industrial visit for the students of MBA on 14TH  march, 2022 for YAKULT which is Located at Rai, Sonipat.

We reached there at 10:30am and met an official representative MR. ASHISH, who delivered a lecture and presentation to the students. Yakult is a fermented milk drink which contain more than 6.5 billion beneficial bacteria lactobacillus casei strain Shirota in every bottle . In 1930, DR. Minoru Shirota, a Japanese scientist, discovered Special Strain Bacteria that is beneficial to the health. This drink was firstly introduced in Japan in 1935 and later launched in the overseas market. 

Yakult is the scientifically proven Probiotic drink with more than 80 years of research to back its efficiency. Yakult is consumes in more than 30 countries and its achieve its target of  3Crores customers every day.

Our college has organized an industrial visit for the students of BBA & MBA on 08TH November, 2022 for YAKULT which is Located at Rai, Sonipat.

We reached there at 11:30 am and met an official representative Ms. Muskan, who delivered a lecture and presentation to the students. Industrial Visit of Mother Dairy & NDRI Karnal

Our college has organized a industrial visit for the students of MBA & BBA on 19th Oct, 2023 for Mother Dairy which is Located at Karnal Haryana.

We reached there at 10:30am and met an official representative MR. Rahul, who delivered a lecture and presentation to the students.

Press Visit Report – Amar Ujala, Karnal, Haryana

Our college organized a Press Visit for the MBA and BBA students on 01 March 2024 to Amar Ujala, located in Karnal, Haryana.

The students reached the Amar Ujala premises at 10:30 AM, where they were greeted by official representatives Mr. Gourav and Mr. Bhagwan Das. The session began with a detailed lecture and presentation, providing students with valuable insights into the functioning of a major media house.

The representatives explained various aspects of news production, editorial processes, printing technology, and media ethics. The students had the opportunity to observe the operations behind the scenes and gain a better understanding of how news is curated and disseminated in real-time.

The visit was coordinated under the guidance of faculty members:
Dr. Shamsher Singh, Mr. Rinku, and Mr. Puneet Kumar,
whose support and involvement greatly enhanced the learning experience.

He provided students with in-depth insights into the operations, supply chain systems, and quality management techniques followed at Mother Dairy.

The visit also included an informative session at the National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), where students explored various research and technological advancements in the dairy industry.

An industrial visit was organized by our college for the students of MBA and BBA on 11th February 2025 to Parle-G, located at Bahadurgarh, Sonipat, and Haryana.

The group reached the facility at 11:30 AM, where they were warmly welcomed by the official representative, Ms. Heena Dalal. Mr. Dalal delivered an insightful lecture and presentation, providing the students with a comprehensive understanding of the operations, manufacturing processes, and business strategies adopted by Parle-G.

The session was both informative and engaging, offering students valuable exposure to real-world industry practices and deepening their knowledge of one of India’s most iconic FMCG brands.
