RPIIT Drone Academy – AICTE‑Approved Program

Program Overview

Launched by AICTE in partnership with AVPL International to set up 47 AeroVision Drone Labs across India starting January 2025, aiming to train 25,000+ students  .

Labs offer credit-based AICTE-approved courses, aligned with National Credit Framework (NCrF) and NSQF Levels 5–7.

The initiative is designed for hands-on drone design, assembly, programming, and operation along with theoretical learning  .

Curriculum Breakdown

1.Drone Systems & Control

(IISc / NPTEL course)

A 12-week program covering:

Drone aerodynamics, dynamics, 6‑DoF modeling, sensors (IMU, GPS, vision), Kalman filtering, PID control, and autopilot design.

Advanced topics like path-planning (RRT, A*), obstacle avoidance, trajectory tracking, SLAM, ROS, AirSim  .

Weekly content highlights:

Weeks 1‑3: Aerodynamics, sensors, dynamic modeling

Weeks 4‑6: Control systems & PID design

Weeks 7‑9: PX4 autopilot & path planning

Weeks 10‑12: Trajectory tracking, obstacle avoidance, SLAM, Gazebo/ROS
